Job Title: Service Leader
Base Rate: $33.48 per hour based on the (SCHADS) Award
FirstCare is seeking a highly experienced and committed Service Leader to join our expanding team. With our mission of “putting the care and wellbeing of the people we support first”, we are seeking someone highly motivated in developing and delivering safe, effective, quality care services to support our Service User’s to reach their goals and live a quality life.
About the role
The Service Leader plays a crucial role in developing and delivering safe, effective, quality care services to support our Service Users. This position is instrumental in facilitating our support care services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and provides hands-on leadership to support people in achieving their goals. You will be responsible for managing our Disability Support Partners and aims to provide our service users with quality care services that reflect their needs and promote their dignity, wellbeing, abilities, and independence.
This position is the critical link between the team responsible for designing and delivering our exceptional care services and the Service Leader remaining accountable for effective delivering our services.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating all aspects of the service, including rostering, to ensure that the staff-to-service user ratio is adequately filled on all shifts.
- Provide leadership to the service and to direct reports, creating an environment that promotes reflective practice and optimises team performance
- Provide support to people with sometimes complex disabilities in areas such as personal care, health, and wellbeing, accessing the local community, learning independent living skills, and implementing all supports according to their funded support needs.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in a professional manner and ensure ongoing positive relationships are formed with participants family members and carers
- Oversee the coordination of data collection within the service, including reviewing daily, ensuring compliance with current legislative and NDIS registration requirements and organisational processes.
- Ensuring Support Partners are reporting accurate Case Notes, investigating, and providing feedback when necessary. The Service Leader plays a vital role in supporting our Support Partners.
- Engaging regularly with service users, their families, and all other stakeholders involved in the delivery of supports for the service users to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and service delivery
- Develops and manages internal and external relationships with other groups or organisations: linking service users and the team with internal and external resources.
To be successful, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications, Diploma in Disability; or a related field and any other qualification or experience acceptable by the Organisation.
- Proven experience in leading a small team and the critical aspects of site management (i.e., adequately rostering shifts)
- Demonstrated experience and confidence in working with people with a disability and a genuine understanding of their complex needs and behaviours.
- The proven ability to use sound judgment and act appropriately in crisis and emergencies
- High-level computer literacy, excellent organisational/time management skills, prioritising and managing multiple and competing work tasks, and delivering to agreed deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including cultural sensitivity and cross-culture communication.
- Current First Aid certificate, Police Check, Working with Children’s Check & NSW Drivers Licence
- NDIS New Worker Screening and the Certificate of completion for The NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety & You, or willingness to obtain Certificate of completion.
- Double vaccinated for COVID 19 or have a NSW government contraindication form exemption is required for this role in compliance with NSW Public Health Order (s6C of the NSW Public Health Order: COVID-19 Care Services).
