All sessions are delivered remotely through phone and video conferencing; a link will be sent out to the client via Gmail/Zoom or Microsoft Team prior to the session.

In special arrangements, the Therapist may conduct a face-to-face session.

Confidentiality. We work collaboratively and in trust to develop and establish a good rapport.

There are boundaries and limits to confidentiality in certain cases. Confidentiality may be broken if you or others are, in the opinion of the therapist seem to be in danger or at serious risk of being harmed.

Information shared with the counsellor is confidential. FirstCare counselling programs comply with the Confidentiality and Admissibility provisions of the Family Law Act.

Information shared with the counsellor can only be shared with others

  • with the consent of the client
  • to comply with a law
  • to report a serious threat to others or property, or
  • to assist an Independent Children’s Lawyer in representing a child properly.

Counselling records can only be used as evidence in a court case if they contain information about child abuse that is not available from another source.

If you have funding for Improved Daily Living within your NDIS plan, you can access counselling under the NDIS scheme.

Non-NDIS clients can access our counselling services at a subsidised rate.

FirstCare offers two free counselling sessions for our service users who might be financially disadvantaged or in crisis.  

Our team will also be able to link you to other services which may help you address any challenges you or your family might be facing during your emergency needs or family crisis.
